"Food should make love to your mouth.  At least that’s what my grummy (grandmother), Maybell Burnside Smith use to say.  She firmly believed a person’s heart is reflected in their cooking and she had a heart of gold.  Her kitchen is where my love for cooking began. She taught me how to cook and love.

Bahama Mama was founded in the time of Covid. Having relocated to Michigan in 2018,  my heart was yearning for, The Bahamas, my home. Initially, I only cooked for my family and friends, but I wanted to expand this love throughout Michigan and beyond.  With my grummy's spirit, I wanted Michiganders to experience this love first hand. and since opening day, it has been love at first bite!
